Moonstone is the opalescent variety of orthoclase feldspar with a white or blue-ish sheen which is caused by the reflection of light from the stone’s internal structure and often compared to the shine of the moon. Other varieties of moonstone can be yellow, peach or colorless.

Moonstone is said to balance yin and yang energy.

In Victorian times, dreaming of moonstone was to foretell an impending danger.

In India, it is a sacred stone, believed to bring good luck. Legend says moonstone is said to arouse tender passion and is a prized gift for lovers.

The moonstone, the star sapphire, and the cat’s-eye
are all gems which possess a moving light…
believed by the Orientals to be gems of
good luck. Indeed, it is supposed in the East that a living spirit
dwells within these stones, a spirit potent for good.
